Digital Wall Clock
Today's Digital Wall Clock Can Tell You More Than Just the Time
The wall clock has traditionally been a big round clock with an analog movement that moves the
hands inexorably around the face. What school child does not remember staring at the clock on the wall silently
wishing it would speed up at the end of the day? Today most of those clocks are still on the wall but in some areas
they have been replaced with a large digital wall clock that not
only shows the time but the day and date.
The first time most people saw a large digital clock was probably
in the movie "2001 A Space Odyssey", this clock was built by Pulsar a pioneer in the digital clock and watch industry. They actually were the first company to produce a
working digital clock with LED readout in 1970; they followed this with the release of the world's first LED watch
in 1972.
LED wall clocks changed the world by making it easier to see the time from across the room and
they were far more accurate than their analog predecessors. This meant that keeping the world moving on time became
much easier. Digital clocks are also much cheaper to maintain as they have no moving parts to wear out or be
affected by dirt.
When it comes to making a digital wall clock La Crosse
offers more styles than almost any other manufacturer. Many of their models perform double duty and also function
as digital alarm clocks complete with snooze feature. All of them use backlit LCD displays that are large enough to
be seen from across the room. They also make travel alarm clocks for those of you who are on the go whether for
business or pleasure.
The typical Lacrosse clock comes with a host of features such as indoor and outdoor wireless
temperature readings as well as a calendar that shows day, date and month and will automatically correct for
daylight savings time. Some of the more expensive models use changes in air pressure to predict the weather
conditions for the next 12 hours. Today's digital wall clock can be used as an information station to help you plan
your day.
By far the most advanced technology in keeping time is the radio controlled clock. These clocks
are called this because they use a radio signal sent from one or more of the atomic clocks located in various
countries around the world. Inside of your clock is a tiny radio signal receiver that is permanently tuned to 60
hertz which is the frequency used to broadcast a signal from these atomic clocks. While the bandwidth of this
signal is not wide enough to carry voice or data it is just wide enough to carry a binary code. Your clock receives
this code and uses it to adjust itself to the time being broadcast on this signal making the radio controlled clock as accurate as the atomic clocks they get their signal from.
While it is still nice to have an old fashioned analog clock on the living room wall, having a
digital wall clock that can tell you more than just the time can make life just a little bit easier for you as you
try to plan out your day.
